“Everyone in the house knows what I did. Or thinks they know what I did. No one asks though because no one really wants to hear how I killed a baby. They don’t even want to know why I killed a baby. They just want to pretend they know for knowing’s sake.”

A new month is upon us which means a new book to devour, and for the first time in TBGR history, I’ve chosen a book for the month that I haven’t read prior.

I know, I know so unlike me, but although I’ve never read this one it has been sitting on my shelf for years, it has been recommended by soooo many people I can’t even count, and most importantly it was written by one of my favs, Tiffany D. Jackson.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know how much I love this author and recently I just read her latest novel Grown. Read my review here. And of course, we read her haunting thriller ‘Monday’s Not Coming’ last year, (this book continues to be one that we constantly discuss.

That’s why I’m pretty confident that this month’s book Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson will be just as good.

Mary B. Addison killed a baby.

Allegedly. She didn’t say much in that first interview with detectives, and the media filled in the only blanks that mattered: A white baby had died while under the care of a churchgoing black woman and her nine-year-old daughter. The public convicted Mary and the jury made it official. But did she do it? She wouldn’t say.

Mary survived six years in baby jail before being dumped in a group home. The house isn’t really “home”—no place where you fear for your life can be considered a home. Home is Ted, who she meets on assignment at a nursing home.

There wasn’t a point to setting the record straight before, but now she’s got Ted—and their unborn child—to think about. When the state threatens to take her baby, Mary must find the voice to fight her past. And her fate lies in the hands of the one person she distrusts the most: her Momma. No one knows the real Momma. But who really knows the real Mary?

I can’t wait to read this one. But currently I’m about halfway through Obama’s new book so I won’t be starting this one for another week or so, but I hope you’ll read along with us.

That’s all for me, Happy Reading!!!
