This book gave me all the feels, complicated, messy, and very sweet, I loved it all.
First of all, thank LibroFM for sending me the Audio ARC of this book. It was so well done and I completed it in less than two days.
Anyway…
Helen is a popular author, after leaving high school and tragedy behind in her hometown that left her depleted she moves to New York to attend school and begin her career.
Helen throws herself into her career becoming a bestselling author. And even though her career is thriving she doesn’t have an authentic, real social life. She has other author friends, but they aren’t real friends because she is struggling to connect with anyone on a real level.
When her book is set to be turned into a TV series she jumps at the opportunity to move to LA and work in the writing room. But she’s shocked to see Grant, someone she hasn’t seen in thirteen years in her writing room, for her book, and it’s not a welcomed surprise. She’s pissed and rightfully so because Grant is part of a horrible time in her life, a time she left behind. So she asks Grant to quit, to leave and not take this job, but Grant needs this job, needs this opportunity, and refuses to quit. Now they must work together for months with this huge elephant in the room.
What follows is a beautiful story of forgiveness, an opportunity to make the best of the situation, and even a little healing.
My thoughts:
- I loved the backstory of the characters and enjoyed getting to know them. Helen and Grant were both so complicated and both attempting to heal from the same situation.
- The writing was gripping and flowed very well and I loved the way the story developed very naturally.
I listened to this on LibroFM and thank you to LibroFM for providing me with an advanced audio copy of this book. The audio was lovely.
Lines I loved…
- “You don’t have to be completely healed to be everything I want. To be mine. I want every part of you, you silly infuriating woman. I love the parts of you I haven’t even met yet.”
- “I’d rather have a fraction of you than all of someone else.”
- “I’m not fine. I haven’t been for a while, and I blamed you for so long because the last thing you ever did was teach me how much loving can hurt.”
- “If I heal and move on, I’m worried I’ll finally lose you for good.”
