Our stories are the ones we tell in whispered voices, in private spaces, to people who we know will not judge us but will hold space for our truths.
Sisters, we’re diving deep this month with a powerful, unfiltered, and deeply intimate read. Our November book pick is ‘The Sex Lives of African Women’ by Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah, a revolutionary collection of voices exploring what sexuality, love, and identity mean for African women worldwide
Season 7 features a diverse collection of books by incredible Black authors, each bringing unique perspectives on life, love, and the complexities of Black womanhood. Over the next few months, we’ll read, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversations that will challenge us to think critically and live more fully.
As always, our sessions are designed to be inclusive, safe, and supportive spaces where Black women of all ages and backgrounds can come together, share their stories, and learn from one another. Expect a mix of in-person discussions, online forums, and engaging activities that go beyond the books we read.
November Book of the Month: The Sex Lives of African Women
Sekyiamah opens a space for women to share their raw, unedited truths about love, pleasure, freedom, and healing. Each story illuminates the ways African women are reclaiming their bodies and narratives. From the complexity of love and liberation to the challenges of cultural norms, these personal stories celebrate the beauty and struggles of being authentically oneself.
Together, we’ll be holding space to unpack these truths, embracing the courage it takes to speak them and the power that comes from doing so. This book will not only challenge us but inspire us to explore and honor our own identities and relationships.
⚠️ Trigger Warnings: This book contains discussions of sexual trauma, abuse, domestic violence, and mental health struggles. Please read with care and take breaks if needed.
