Hey, I’m Lalaa 🖤📚
Library curator, literacy advocate, facilitator, and certified Black book enthusiast.
TBGR grew from a simple truth: books have always been how I make sense of the world. I found hard truth in The Bluest Eye. I learned I could stand tall in Phenomenal Woman. I’ve been held by the fire of Black storytelling, in Toni, in Hurston, in bell, in James, in Alice, each one offering language for what I couldn’t name yet.
I read for pleasure, yes. But also for meaning. For lineage. For the kind of tenderness Black women deserve without having to earn it. And in a world that tries to flatten us, reading becomes resistance: a quiet rebellion that helps us reclaim our stories, protect our softness, and imagine ourselves beyond what anyone demands.
Book Clubs + Community
Our monthly book clubs are where the magic happens.
Each month, we choose a book that meets us where we are—stories that spark honest conversation and help us name what we’re carrying. These are not rushed discussions or performative takes. They’re real, grounded, and guided by the belief that Black women deserve spaces where we can show up fully.
Alongside book club, we host events like:
- author talks
- writing workshops
- book exchanges
- healing-centered circles and community read-ins
Whether you’re a seasoned reader or getting back into it after a long break, you’re welcome here.
